THE COUNSELOR’S CORNER-----DEC. 2012
WOW!!!!
It is hard to believe that it is almost Christmas! We would like to say a “special thank you” to
everyone who continues to support RES with their time and donations. These both
help our school be a safer place to learn!
We always appreciate support from our community and our parents!
Since
the start of school, we have been busy with our DIBELS testing in Kindergarten,
first grade and second grade. Results from our TCAP test this past Spring have been sent home with the fourth grade students as
well as our SAT-10 results from last school year. Richland Elementary is in Good Standing with
the state in the progress of our students!
YAY!!!!
In
guidance classes we have been discussing Listening Skills and the importance of
this in learning. This is included in
our Study Skills unit. Please encourage your children to listen carefully and
pay attention in class.
We
have also finished a unit on Fire Safety and are currently studying Being
Healthy and Saying No to Drugs. We want to be healthy to do whatever we want to
do in life!
After
Christmas holidays, we will be starting a unit on the six pillars of Character,
studying about using good manners, respecting others, and being a good
citizen. (See if your children can tell
you what the six pillars are!). We will, then, be exploring careers and how
important learning in school is when a career is chosen. Getting along with others and having good
character is also important.
After
these units are completed, it will be testing time again!!!!!
Let’s
make this a wonderful year!!!!!!!!!
